It is a comprehensive program that is part of school life involving all children from Pre Primary to Year 6. The extremely well equipped Music room enables children to learn to play a variety of tuned and non-tuned percussion instruments. Music Technology is also up to date and accessible. The instrumental program is run by the School of Instrumental Music with a visiting music teacher teaching Clarinet to Year 5 and 6 students.
There is a voluntary un-auditioned choir for children in Years 3-6. The program reinforces the love for music-making by providing the performance opportunities, techniques and musical understanding. Students have positive experiences performing at Choral Festivals, community events including Carols in the Quarry and school assemblies.
The music program provides a fun and stimulating learning environment for all students. Through a range of current music education philosophies, our children are given every opportunity to explore music through moving, singing, listening, body percussion and playing. Using cultural based, modern and traditional music influences, they learn to perform, create and respond to music.
We believe that the life of every student is enriched by the skills, knowledge and habits acquired in the study of music at our school. The program co-ordinator is passionate that all children, at whatever level they might be, should have an opportunity to experience the joy of music making. We aim to foster an interest and love for music. We aim to lay the foundation for life long learning and appreciation to Music.
