Semester 1 Wrap Up

“Children are not only shaped by what we teach them, but by what we show them. The way we speak, listen, and treat others becomes the blueprint for how they engage with the world…

When parents and schools work together, children thrive. The values we nurture at home and reinforce in the classroom become the foundation for respectful, resilient, and compassionate young minds.”

As we wrap up Semester 1, I am grateful for the collaborative spirit of our school community. After our Public School Review (PSR) in Week 8 this term the reviewers were impressed with our commitment to improvement across all areas of the Public School Review Standard. They acknowledged and commended us on our strengths and validated the areas for improvement that we had identified through our self-assessment processes. Please keep an eye out for the PSR Report which will be shared next term when it becomes available. Our collective success is testament to commitment and efforts of staff and students and the great support of our school community, thank you.

I also want to take this moment to acknowledge the progress and achievements of our students, reflected in their Semester 1 reports. I hope you have had time to celebrate your child’s achievements and progress both big and small. Whether it’s improved efforts in mastering a concept, resilience or demonstrating kindness and leadership in the classroom and around the school – each accomplishment deserves recognition. I’d also like to emphasise the importance of embracing mistakes as valuable learning opportunities as, it is this that makes us human. Our approach to education values effort and perseverance and we believe setbacks are a natural part of the learning process – nothing is perfect.

Over the next few months we have some staff on leave, Mrs Anna Earnshaw will be taking well earned Long Service Leave for the remainder of the year to enjoy her family and grandchildren and we wish her all the best, I’m sure she’ll pop in to say hi every now and then. We welcome Jade Kuppusamy (Mrs K) as she joins the Early Childhood Team on Wednesdays in the Pre-primary. Eddy Sensei continues on leave for Term 3 and we have a few Japanese language teachers in her role next term.
Lastly I will also be away on an extended mid term break accessing 2 weeks long service leave break returning in Week 3 Monday 4 August . I know the school will be in the very capable hands of Alison Jenkins as Principal and thank Lauren Graffin, Louise Smith, Amanda Sobkowiak and Tom Betson who will be stepping into leadership roles to support her in my absence. The way our staff commit to each of their many roles makes City Beach Primary School a great place for learning. We are lucky to have a dedicated team of professionals looking after your children and families.

So as we head into the holiday break, I encourage families to take time to relax, recharge, and reconnect. Step away from screens, enjoy the simple joys of being together, and create lasting memories where ever you may be over the next two weeks.

We look forward to welcoming everyone after the break for Term 3 on Monday 21 July refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning and growth.

Be Safe, Kind and Fair in all you do.
