The Importance Of Volunteerism

PAY IT FORWARD – THE IMPORTANCE OF VOLUNTEERISM

Volunteers work willingly together for the betterment of their communities and themselves. It is an uplifting experience that embodies a generosity of spirit.

There are so many quotes about the power of volunteering in a school or community organisation that highlight the benefits to both the organisation and the individual. In schools volunteering is paying it forward as it shapes the volunteer and their child or children.

One of the great benefits for parents’ volunteering in school is the value it places on kids’ education and interests. It shows children that parents’ value education and see it as an important investment of their time. It is also a great way to help kids understand the value of helping out in the community when and where there is a need, being a part of something for the greater good. Volunteer work in any capacity is so important and specifically within the schools, it can be such a powerful way for parents to lead by example. When you dedicate time in a school, you help children see and learn about important soft skills like leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and creativity – essential in our world and their future.

Our recent parent satisfaction survey highlighted the incredible community spirit as one of the unique elements that captures what’s at the heart of our great school. Thank you to all of the current P&C and School Board members for giving something back to our school community, please know that what you do makes a difference to your child and the school community. Our recent call for nominations for the School Board successfully appointed two new parent representatives, Rachael Davern and Sam Berridge who were warmly welcomed at the first Board meeting 1 March 2022.

Next week the P&C are calling for nominations for office bearing roles and P&C membership at the AGM. The success of the AGM next week (15 March) will rely on volunteers who are keen to put their hand up to fill one of nine official positions on the P&C executive. Sharing your skills and expertise while making new friends is a wonderful way to spread your wings and become a part of the heart of our school community. If you want to support and maintain positive partnerships between the school and families and contribute to additional resources and programs that the school can provide for student learning at the same time…the P&C is for you!

Don’t hesitate to nominate – we need you!
